Premade Or Custom, The Right Hoses And Lines Are Critical For Your Car

Blog

There are a lot of hoses and lines that are used in your car that are all critical. If you need to replace a brake line, cooling line, or hose somewhere on your vehicle, it is vital that you get the right one for your application. If you can't find the right hose or line, you may be able to have a custom one made for you to fit your needs.

Brake and Fuel Lines

Some of the most common hard lines used in cars include the fuel line that runs from the fuel tank to the engine fuel injection or carburetor. The line may have some specific bends to make it fit properly on the car, and the fittings installed on the line are critical for the line to function correctly.

The hard brake lines that are used on your car are often available premade as well. These steel lines are pre-bent, have all the right fittings on them, and are made from a specific size line with thick walls to stand up to the brake system pressure.

If these lines expand under pressure, the brakes will not work correctly, so it is crucial that you get the right replacement brake lines when you need to replace them. If you cannot find a pre-bent line for your car or truck, you can buy straight sections of steel line and use a tubing bender to put the bends in them and make them fit your car or truck.

High-Pressure Hoses

There are some hoses on your car that are very durable and handle some extremely high pressures in the hose. Hydraulic hoses are used on the end of the brake lines to connect the caliper on the hub to the steel lines on the vehicle's frame because they can bend and move with the wheel as it turns and moves.

The hoses are made with fabric or steel mesh embedded in the rubber to withstand high pressures and still allow the hose to be flexible. Often you can buy hydraulic hoses from the dealerships parts department or an auto parts dealer that are ready to be installed on your vehicle.

In some cases, the hose may not be available, but some auto parts stores can make the hoses for you. Custom hoses are most commonly used on equipment or older vehicles that the replacement hoses are no longer being manufactured for. If you can't find the hydraulic hoses you need, check with your local auto parts store or a hydraulic shop to see if they can make them for you.
